Current economic conditions have caused the number of people relying on food pantries/banks across the nation to rise. In March, 2010, the New York State Department of Labor reported Hamilton County's unemployment rate was over 11%.
The Wells Food Pantry, located inside the Wells Community Hall, State Rte. 30, has been in existence for a number of years now--when times are tough, it makes sure neighbors can get what they need. The pantry offers non-perishable food items, frozen food and in-season produce.
The Food Pantry is open:
- Every THURSDAY: 9-11 a.m.
DONATIONS WELCOME
Run solely by volunteers, the Food Pantry is entirely dependent on donations in order to supply local families and individuals with assistance. Frozen foods and in-season produce are accepted as well as non-perishable canned or boxed items.
For further information or to schedule a time to visit the Wells Food Pantry other than during regular hours, call either 924-2269 or the Wells Meal Site, 924-4066.
